Chapter 28

Three weeks. That had been the time Mia Vance needed to leave her old life behind. During the short period of those three weeks, she had put at risk everything she had worked for and sacrificed over the years. Mia had used this time to break contracts with sponsors, say goodbye to her friends and family, and deactivate her social media accounts and channels, with the premise that she was taking a break from the internet to reinvent herself and focus on new projects. Her manager hadn’t liked any of it, saying she was crazy if she thought her fans would still be there when she finally returned, but he couldn’t do anything but let her go her own way.

She knew she had a unique opportunity ahead of her, to leave her mark in the history books. To have her name and work remembered decades and centuries after she was gone. Compared to that, what was the fragile fame she had gained by narrating e-sports championships?
