Kukume

I sat in a faceless office

Staring through unknown corridors

And endless catalogues

Why did I feel that my blood

Was being denied?

Blood pulling me impatient

Blood coursing along the broad paths

Of Tāne the vast horizons to Hawaiki

Stirred

Ancient

Sacred

Searching

At Four This Morning

At four I woke with a laden heart

feeling the need to be positive

and to prepare myself for the things

I cannot control nor change

Yes, I have the privilege to change things I can

given the wisdom to know the difference?

As I read and understand someone’s pain

I pray for that someone’s scarred dreams

To believe in the free spirit,

to stand in a posture of confidence

even when we don’t feel confident

can affect cortisone levels in the brain

Might that even have an impact

On our chances for success

Starting with the golden question

‘Why?’

We can ask Apple, The Oracle

even the nautilus shells of Waitematā

as we watch The Don looking ridiculous

a clown wearing the emperor’s robes

Heart, soul, culture and emotion

have been replaced by a fake surreal world

in the debilitating era of Reality TV

Is this truly the Super-Fast-Efficiency Age?

Someone please

Tell the man

In a trump hole

To stop digging
