Butt Pad Types

There are a plethora of types, styles, and brands of butt pads available. Most butt pads on today’s shotguns are flat with no curvature. The length of the butt pads on sporting shotguns tends to measure a bit longer from heel to toe than those on game guns. Additionally, it’s more common to see slightly shorter butt pads on sub-gauge guns than on the 12-gauge shotgun. The curved or concave butt pads are appropriate for a shotgun that will be pre-mounted, such as in trap or pigeon shooting. Otherwise, the flat pad is preferred on most shotguns.
