Chapter 21

Jack found himself in the modest confines of his small room, a rental arranged by Elara for boarders. The room, while simple, offered a more economical option than continuously staying at an inn. He sat on the bed in a meditative pose, his mind focused on assimilating the new skills and knowledge that the three women, Eliza, Sophia, and Isabella, had acquired over the past few days.

It was an intriguing process for Jack. He wasn’t privy to their thoughts, but he could sense their improvements in various skills and areas of knowledge. This unique connection allowed him to gain insights and understanding from their experiences without direct communication.

He had just finished meditating on the combat techniques that Eliza was mastering. Now, his thoughts shifted to the crafting knowledge that Sophia was diligently working on. In the tranquility of the early morning, with the first light of dawn gently illuminating his room, Jack reviewed the practical lessons he had absorbed. He now understood the intricate art of carving specific items to infuse them with magic. The concept of monster cores being used as energy batteries for enhancing magical items was particularly fascinating to him.

Once Jack had thoroughly reviewed Sophia's new crafting knowledge, he turned his attention to what Isabella was learning about the nature of magic. This part of his meditation focused on the more theoretical and mystical aspects of magic in this world.

Jack sat in contemplation, deeply appreciative of the photographic memory that Isabella possessed. He realized she was far more intelligent than she often let on. The knowledge she had acquired from her extensive reading on the flow of mana in the world was nothing short of fascinating. It revealed how the magical energies interconnected everything in this world. What intrigued Jack most was the discovery that most magical spells operated on complex fractals, linking the world to the underlying energies of chaos that simmered beneath the surface of the mundane.

He found himself engrossed in the foundational knowledge of how these magical fractals tapped into energy, breaking the physical laws to manifest the spell's effects. However, a new understanding dawned on him: there were two ways to harness magical effects. One was through spells that tore reality apart with sheer power, and the other involved using and manipulating the magical flow patterns that he could now perceive and alter, guiding reality as if steering it gently.

As he prepared for his upcoming appointment with Elara, Jack spent several hours nudging and manipulating the flowing webs of magical energies around him. He envisioned them as streams of particles, each one a thread in the fabric of reality. With focused intent, he altered their movement, bending reality on a small scale.

In his mind's eye, these flows appeared as luminous strands, shimmering and shifting in response to his will. Each alteration he made sent ripples through the web of energy, creating subtle changes that only he could perceive. It was a delicate dance of power and precision, a visual symphony of light and motion.
