Analysis

Based on the empirical evidence I have presented in both stock market performance and the case studies, I conclude that large foreign acquisitions by Indian firms have not created shareholder value for the acquiring firms and have probably destroyed shareholder value. The Economist comes to a similar conclusion that “several of corporate India’s acquisitions now seem ill-advised.”28 The causes of this negative outcome are too little integration to achieve synergies, agency problems, and inadequate discipline due to easy capital.
