The Pinelands in south Jersey, also known as the Pine Barrens, covers over a million acres of wilderness with forests, cedar swamps and huge underground water sources or aquifers. Farms produce cranberries, blueberries, and other fruits and vegetables.

The Pinelands has been designated as a National Reserve for Environmental Protection. The New Jersey Pinelands Commission guides the preservation of the reserve and its deep aquifers, clean streams, and extensive pine woods. Visitors camp, kayak, and canoe.

P is also for peninsula. A peninsula is land almost completely surrounded by water. New Jersey is a peninsula bounded by the Hudson and Delaware Rivers and the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay.

P is for the Pinelands, with forests of oak and pine, berries in the bogs and fruit upon the vine.
