Chapter Thirteen
The rest of the day was mostly normal, morning workout, lunch, followed by sparring. Thatâs where things took a turn off the well-worn track.
Without Leda around to kick my⦠err, train me, Timothy paired me off with Matt, and Serena with Christina.
It was only ten seconds or so in whenâ¦
Thumpâ¦
I wasnât sure who was more surprised, me, or Matt who narrowed his eyes at me from down on the mat. Maybe there was something to training with someone so much faster and stronger than I was, and I remembered back to Christinaâs comment the other day? Had I really come that far?
No, not quite that far, Matt had just fallen prey to underestimating me. Matt jumped up and went on the offensive, and I held my own, barely, but I did it. So⦠caught up? Regardless, I had a lot of fun sparring with Matt, neither one of us held back one iota, and we both got in several good hits and throws before we called it, both of us were out of breath as well, which I took as a victory of sorts. It wasnât that long ago he could kick my butt without breaking a sweat.
I also took it with a modicum of caution. Fae, Shifters, and Vampires were still faster, and for the latter two, stronger as well. I wouldnât get cocky, or not use my necromancy when the fight actually counted. But⦠crow a bit and give Matt shit? Every chance I get.

Thatâs when I found out about the other bonus in having a mate and sharing a suite, shower quickies. Which⦠were surprisingly tender and slow, at least our first one that Monday afternoon, most likely because we were both bruised up and muscle tired to begin with. Weâd save the wilder stuff for when we werenât in pain.
She was⦠breathtaking, and open. She surrendered her body to me completely, and gave in eagerly to the pleasure I engendered, in full trust with no reservations, she held nothing of herself back in a way that blew my mind, and raised my pleasure by doing so to heights Iâd never reached. Iâd never known anything like it before with another, making love to Serena was an intensely tender loving experience.
I perhaps stress that so strongly, because a lot of it is our chemistry, love, and trust in each other, but the bond also⦠enhances the experience. Letâs just say the tingle and pleasant hum we feel when holding hands, is also felt when other parts of our bodies touch. We couldnât get enough of each other, but we were mated just yesterday, and thatâs how it should be that early.
Regardless, we finished our shower and tenderly washed each other, and then got dressed and ready for the afternoon briefing before dinnerâ¦
