He came back three hours later, slipping quickly inside. In the dark, he set food and water on the table.

“Darling?” he called into the blackness.

She didn’t answer.

“My lady?”

Nothing.

“So, it’s true. I had hoped it was all lies, but I see it was all true.”

Silence.

“Answer me, you cursed harlot! Did you betray me? Did you tell Sir Hugo what I’d done to you, you ungrateful slut?”

He moved toward the bed, hands held out. The whisper of her clothing told him to jump to his right. She screamed when his hands touched her arm.

“There you are!” He grabbed her and shook. “Do you know what you’ve done to me? All I wanted to do was help you get out of here!”

“Sir Hugo said he never planned any of this!” she yelled in her thick voice. “He never intended to do the things you said!”

He was silent for a long moment. “And you believe him. Over me.”

“Yes, I do.”

“Then you don’t really love me, do you?”

“No!”

Very low, he said, “I don’t approve of liars.”

“Hugo will punish you!”

“Then why does he leave you here? Why does he allow me to get at you again?”

“I don’t know!” she moaned. “Please, let me alone, don’t hurt me anymore!”

“But you told, my dear,” he said lovingly. “You told.”

She screamed, a despairing wail.

“I have to punish you for that, m’lady. I’m doing this for your own good, because I love you. You’ll understand that someday.”

“NOOOOOOO, PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE!”

Putting a hand on her throat to gauge the distance, he punched her below the ribcage, knocking the air out of her. She slumped from the blow. He ripped off her clothes. As he forced her onto the bunk, gripping her neck, he laughed, listening to her desperately trying to get a breath. He slammed her onto her back, knelt between her legs. Her hands rose to his chest, no power in her arms.

He probed her open with his fingers and slammed inside her, furious she was so dry. She took her first real breath, agonized. He leaned over and found her throat, squeezed while pressing down. She clawed at his arm and her body twisted below him as he cut off her air, but he had her pinned. He grunted with pleasure now that he was deep inside her.

Her struggles became sluggish. He released her neck. She took a shuddering breath.

He slapped her face. “If you ever betray me again, I’ll kill you,” he said joyfully. “You’re mine, to do with as I please! You’ll fuck me and enjoy it, you conceited bitch! And you’ll love being beaten and sodomized, because it’s better than being dead.”

He rained down blows, pounding her as brutally as he could, making her third time as memorable as possible, not to be eclipsed by her first two sexual encounters. As he felt his climax approaching, he brayed laughter into the black nothingness that was dream for him and nightmare for her.
