I thought that Phillip and I moving in was just the obvious next step, that it’d be just like when we slept over at each other’s houses, except it’d be our very own. Nope, that it was not either.

Phillip was a little on the precious side when it came to the flat. I was a little on the controlled mess side of things, he was on the no clutter. Also, considering how anal he was about the no clutter, how the fuck did he justify leaving his socks balled up all over the fucking shop? I managed to use the laundry basket just fine, and according to him I was messy. Which I wasn’t, I just refused to put every other freaking thing in the closest drawer where I’d never find it again.

And don’t get me started on the bed making situation. How difficult was it to lend a hand when he could see I was struggling with the super king duvet? Oh, and why is it that all of a sudden I was meant to be the expert laundry person? I’d never done laundry a day in my life before now, yet I was expected to know what shade of blue and grey constituted to lights and darks. Hold on, there were also colours. Colours? Really?

I shoved two detergent tablets on top of the dark looking load, praying that I hadn’t accidentally lost another of Phillip’s expensive light shirts in with it, or one of his precious white t-shirts. I say precious because, damn, every time he wore one was like Christmas had come early. The bright white on his golden skin and with his light blonde hair…just thinking about him in one was enough to make me wet. I slammed the door to the washing machine, listening for the click of the lock as I programmed the wash.

“How you feeling?” Phillip asked as I took a moment to steady myself on the counter. “You don’t look great.”

Thanks. I rolled my eyes at his comment. The last few months had been hectic. My workload was verging on ridiculous, couple that with settling into the flat and organising our things—I was spent. If my head wasn’t buried in files, it was nestled on my pillow. Which must’ve been frustrating for Phillip, because with me being this tired, I wasn’t in the mood for sex. Or rather, I didn’t have the energy for it…no matter how much coffee I drowned my stomach in.

“I’m being serious, you look like you’re about to puke and faint at the same time.” He pulled a couple of mugs down from the kitchen cabinet along with the cafetiere and started preparing the coffee. “Maybe you should call in sick tomorrow.”

“Yeah, that’s exactly what I need to do when I’m due in court.”

“Okay, chill your beans.” He crooned as he curled some stray strands around his fingers and then smoothed my hair back into the messy bun on my head.

“It’s not that simple, Pip, I’m constantly buried under files and more files.
