Hailey

Thwump! Went the bottle of Pinot Noir as Hailey uncorked it, pouring two glasses of the aromatic liquid. The two of them sat at the bar for a second while she opened the wine. Hailey kicked off her red pumps and they flew next to the door. She always felt sexy in red.

After she sipped a mouthful of wine, she set her glass on the coffee table and plopped on the couch with a big grin and a sigh.

She gave Sloan an inviting nod to join her on the couch. Her place was a mix of eclectic and crazy, but it was hers and she loved it.

“So, Drakester, what's up in your world?” she asked flirtatiously. She had already talked to the better part of herself and decided to behave tonight, having no intention of getting laid.

“Lately, not much but this case. Speaking of case, my father, Elder Drake, is always on mine. I can't do anything right for him or by him. Can't make him happy, or proud,” Sloan trailed off and took a swig of wine.

Hailey dropped her jaw in astonishment, “Hey, now. Is it possible we’re siblings?” she chuckled as she tried to lighten the mood. She grabbed her glass and sucked down another gulp.

With a wave of her hand, she continued, “Your pops sounds an awful lot like mine. The whole reason I'm even at PEACE is because of his shenanigans. Yeesh, you make one mistake and they never let you forget it,” she shook her head as she set her glass down.

She giggled girlishly, questioning, “So, this is what it sounds like when doves cry?”

Bewildered, Sloan shot her a confused glance.

“You know that song about a boy who had a bad dad? Oh, a little too old for that one, huh?” Her face brightened as she sat up straight and pointed her finger toward the ceiling, exclaiming, “There should be an anti-fathers day! A bad pops day! That way, we can really say they're the best!” she beamed triumphantly.

Sloan shook his head, laughing, “You have such a way with words. But you're right, they never let you forget,” he said, glancing her way as he set his glass next to hers on the table. “Never. But for some reason, I can't forget you. I can't get you out of my head.” He reached over for Hailey, pulling her closer.

She felt the heat rise from her back up into her face. As she turned her gaze back to Sloan, she ran a finger up his arm while she bit her lip. He had been peering into her eyes, but now he was looking down at her lip. He brought his hand up to her face and brushed a piece of her blonde hair back, placing his hand behind her head.

Shivers went down her spine. Oh, no! I said I wasn't gonna do this! She licked her lips while he watched her. Slowly, he leaned forward to give her a kiss when BZZZZZ!

Both phones vibrated simultaneously. To PEACE ASAP.
