Our show is set to start in an hour, and that should leave me just enough time to go get my girl and make it back here in time to go onstage. I burst back into the room backstage and all of the guys whip around to stare at me.

“You alright, man?” Miles calls as he finishes styling his hair.

“Bet it’s Emmie,” Zayn sing songs as he warms up his wrists, his drumsticks tap-tapping on the warm-up drum kit.

Lazlo just grins at me, and I run over to him.

“Can I borrow your car?” I ask him.

“She’s coming on tour?” he asks, digging his keys out of his pocket and tossing them to me.

“Yeah,” I say, the grin on my face feeling almost permanent.

“Be back soon,” I call as I run out of the stadium.

I laugh when I hear them making kissing noises behind me and find Lazlo’s car right outside the back entrance. I hop in, peeling out of the lot and rushing back to Emmie’s. She’s waiting for me by the gate with a suitcase resting by her feet. She grins and waves when she sees me pull up, and I smile back, loving how happy she looks right now. I hope that I can keep her this happy forever and I swear to do everything in my power to keep that promise to myself.

I hop out, running around and grabbing her around the waist. She laughs right before my mouth claims hers, and we kiss, getting lost in each other until we’re both out of breath. I help her into the car, putting her luggage in the trunk before I slip back behind the wheel.

“I’m glad that you called,” I tell her, kissing her quickly on the lips before I turn around and head back to the stadium.

“I’m glad that I met you.”

My hand finds hers, and I interlock our fingers, driving with my free hand.

“Whose car is this?” she asks, looking around the interior.

“Lazlo’s. He plays bass in the band. He let me borrow it since you had luggage.”

“That was nice of him.”

“The whole band is excited to meet you,” I tell her, squeezing her hand in mine.

“Really? You told them about me?”

“Of course.”

“Were you mad that I didn’t know who you were? When we met?” she asks me as she fidgets in her seat.

“Are you kidding me? I loved it! I get recognized a lot, so it was refreshing not to be “The Ruskin Roman” with you.”

We pull into the stadium lot, and I park in the back again, helping Emmie out. I have to run inside to get ready and warmed up but I show Emmie where she can sit to watch the show and I make sure that security is aware of who she is and they all promise to keep an eye on her.

We play the best show of our lives, and I know that it’s because I’ve finally found the girl that I’m going to marry. My eyes keep straying over to the side of the stage and I grin every time I see Emmie standing there.
