Subscribe to business news podcasts from around the world. Listen to different accents and other kinds of English, not only in (standard) British English or American English. Even within British English, you will find many different speaker accents – Scottish or Northern Irish, for example.

Search for audio reports and podcasts by people with the same or similar accent to the people you often do business with, so that you can get used to that accent.

For example, if you have business partners in India, listen to podcasts that interest you and are relevant to your work on Forbes India, which has a variety of podcasts on different business subjects, or listen to ‘The Week on Dalal Street’ on Money Control:

which offers a weekly summary of financial news.

Just search for business podcasts plus the name of the country or region you are interested in (for example, ‘business podcasts South Africa’).

Don’t limit yourself to native speakers, either. There are plenty of business podcasts in English from countries whose first language is not English, but who use English for international business communication.
