Chapter 5
If youâre like me and youâve watched too many horror movies in your life, you can only imagine what I was expecting to see on the other side of the door. A bunch of dead bodies, maybe some sort of saw, or a whole lot of ropes. So when we walked through the door and I saw a large expanse of windows looking out at the city, I was shocked.
âWait, what? How are we so high up? How had I not noticed that?â I looked at him in confusion. âWhat the ever-loving hell is going on?â
âWhat are you talking about?â
âHow are we so high up in the air, but we were just in the garage?â
He grinned. âAh, wouldnât you like to know?â
âIâm so confused. Also, I know where we are.â
âYou do?â he said with a small smile. âReally?
âWhen you live in the middle of the city like this, itâsââ
My jaw dropped as the view outside the windows changed. We were now in Paris? I could see the Eiffel tower in the distance.
âWhat the â¦?â I looked at him, my eyes wide. âWhat is going on?â
âAh, I guess youâve never seen anything like this before.â He smiled
âAm I going crazy? How did you just change our location?â
âI didnât change our location, Rosie.â He laughed. âItâs all an illusion.â
âBut what â¦â
âYouâve heard of green screens, right?â
âWhat? Yeah. They change backgrounds in movies and photographs.â
âExactly. Well, I have a version of that all around this room. So you can be wherever you want to be.â
I stared at him in surprise. âThatâs kind of weird, but I guess kind of cool.â
âAnd donât worry. Weâre not going to stay in this room.â He grabbed my hand âCome on.â
âWhere are we going?â
âWeâre going upstairs.â
âUpstairs? So weâre downstairs?â
âYou have too many questions, Rosie, and too many clothes on.â He laughed. âCome on.â
He grabbed my hand and I let him lead me into another room. We walked up a flight of stairs and then through a doorway on the right.
âCome.â
Jackson led me into the room, and my jaw dropped. It was beautiful. It looked like the inside of a magazineâand a really cool magazine, too.
âWhat is this furniture? Is it from Restoration Hardware?â
âHow did you know?â He laughed.
âBecause Iâve seen this headboard before.â I looked at him in surprise. âYou have a lot of money, donât you?â
âMaybe, maybe not.â
âDude. You drive a Range Rover. Your bedroom is filled with furniture from Restoration Hardware. You paid $150 to get us a booth at the bar. You turn down a hundred grand from my momâyet you beat up my boyfriend for $1,000?â
â$700, actually.â He laughed. âPatrick kept $300, finderâs fee and all that.â
âYou beat up my ex-boyfriend for $700, but you can afford all this?â
âThatâs not my day job. You donât seriously think I just go around beating up douchebags, do you?â
âI donât know. Will you ever tell me?â
âNot right now.â
I squealed as he picked me up and dumped me unceremoniously on the bed. His fingers trailed up the inside of my legs then he grabbed my panties and pulled them off in one smooth movement.
