Jason had insisted on taking us all out for dinner. There were a number of restaurants within walking distance from the shop.

"What does everyone think of Italian?" Jason asked. "It seems to go with the theme of the day."

"We never got to eat earlier," I said.

"There's Madeo's on Camden Drive," Mom said.

"That's way too expensive," I said.

"Perfect! Then that's where we have to go," Jason said.

"Then I'll have to change my clothes," Didi said.

"Me too," I said.

"Me three," Beth said.

"How about we meet back here in an hour?" Mom suggested, turning to Beth. "The Luxe Rodeo is just around the corner. I'll take you."

"Are you staying there?" Beth asked Jason.

"No," he said. "I'm staying a little farther away with a friend."

Mom smiled.

"So it's settled," Mom said. "I'll grab my little cart for your luggage. It's only five minutes away. We just take Brighton to Rodeo. You'll be on the same street with some of the most famous shops."

Beth liked that. "Do you think we'll see celebrities?"

"I see them all the time," Mom said, leading the way.

Jason, Didi, and I headed to The Cove.

"She seems nice," Jason said.

"Did she tell you about the painting?" Didi asked.

"Yeah," Jason said. "Do you think that if I could just give whoever wants to kill me that painting that I'll be safe?"

"Do you know where the painting is?" Didi asked.

"No," Jason said, disappointed. "But we did have a warehouse full of stuff that we used to sell on eBay. I never noticed any art there, but it's pretty crowded. Maybe it's in there."

"I'm assuming that the warehouse is in San Diego," Didi said. I knew she was thinking of the long drive.

"I'm afraid so," Jason said.

"So I guess we'll be taking a little field trip to San Diego again tomorrow," I said as the three of us entered the office.

"It seems like a lot of our expenses are going to go to mileage and hours in traffic," I said to Jason.

"Fine with me," he said.

Not knowing how to make the wall disappear with magic, I used the hidden lever, and the wall slid open.

"That's kind of cool," Jason said.

"Magic would be cooler," I said.

"But it is magic," Jason said. "It's just magic operated by a lever."

And the three of us headed into The Cove to dress for dinner.
