This 1964 haute couture evening gown by Givenchy is encrusted with intricate coral beading and raffia embroidery. While copyists could replicate the simple silhouettes, the decoration was impossible to emulate.

This mid-1960s ready-to-wear evening gown by Frank Usher uses yellow matelassé brocade and gilt sequin trim to suggest the luxurious embroidered texture of the original gown, which was probably by Balenciaga or Givenchy.

This blue windowpane check wool tunic was made using a 1969–70 Vogue Série Spéciale pattern. Vogue also offered designer patterns including the early 1969 Belinda Bellville cocktail dress and 1961 evening gown by Lanvin-Castillo.
