‘Is he going to be okay?’ asked Andy, after Trevor had told him of the incident.

‘They think so, it’s a deep wound but Charlie has dressed it and is taking him to a doctor pal to check for internal injuries. If he doesn’t have any, he may not need to go to hospital, so we’ll have to wait and see.’

‘So, what happens now? We’re two men down, will we make it in time?’

‘It’s going to be really tight, I’m not sure. There is only one way I can think of to take all six out,’ Trevor said, immediately regretting his words.

Andy beamed in anticipation. ‘You mean us, don’t you? The dream team on the road facing danger at every turn. It’s us, right?’

Trevor shook his head, not to dampen Andy’s enthusiasm, but to denote regret. Andy could tell and raised his arm in the air in triumph.

‘Yes! Come on!’ he yelled.

‘Seriously, don’t make me change my mind. Is Marge ready to go?’

‘Marge is always ready!’

‘Right, so Darren and whoever he is left with will be dropping Izzy and Clive off, before coming here to drop those scumbags off. They will then go and take on Joseph Campbell and Ricky Ali. That leaves us with the other two shits, Maurice Young, aka Mo and Luka Novak, aka Ivan. They’re the closest to the factory in Forest Gate, so we need to find somewhere we can lure them to.’

They both examined the map on the computer.

‘Young lives in Kitchener Road and Novak in Forest Street, so how about here,’ Andy said, pointing to the northern part of West Ham Park.

‘There is a cricket club there, so it wouldn’t be out of place to see someone driving around to deliver or pick something up,’ Andy continued. ‘If we get them to meet us by the changing rooms, we’ll be hidden from the housing in Ham Park Road and so should be able to take them out there. What do you think?’

‘I’m not happy with taking the camper van down there, no. How about you park it here,’ he said, pointing to Reginald Road, around a hundred yards away and out of sight. ‘It’s less than a minute away, and then when we take them out you can drive in and pick us all up.’

‘Wait, what do you mean? Who’s we? I thought I was doing this with you!’

‘Mate, you are lucky to be involved at all, this lot are as nasty as I’ve ever seen, and they’ve just badly wounded an experienced fighter. You were never going to be involved in any confrontation.’

‘So, who are you taking?’ Andy asked.

‘I’ll take Kendra and the twins. I’ll make sure that we’re all masked and kitted up. The four of us should be enough.’

Andy paused for a moment, trying to think of a reason to be upset. He could not fault Trevor’s decision but it didn’t sit right with him that he wasn’t able to contribute physically, or that he couldn’t protect Kendra as he was previously able to.
