The Namekagon could be counted as a great trout river for its beauty alone. Be prepared to be overwhelmed by the Namekagon; towering white pines and balsam firs, bald eagles overhead, its wild character, and—oh yes—its fishing. Gordon MacQuarrie wrote lovingly of the Namekagon in his story Now, in June: “The best trout streams are the ones you grow up with and then grow old with. Eventually they become like a familiar shotgun, or a faithful old setter, or a comfortable pair of shoes. You develop a profound affection for them, and you think maybe before you die you will even understand a little about them.” The Namekagon will do that to you.
