6.4 Working with Arguments

Arguments may refer to single cells and cell ranges, but they must be placed inside parenthesis to be effective. According to the syntax needed by the function, you may provide a single parameter or many arguments.

Example; The function =MEAN (B1:B9) will compute the arithmetic mean in the selected cell M1:M9 using the data in the first nine cells of the array. This function takes a single parameter and returns a value.

6.5 Creating Function

To create a basic function in Excel:

Choose the cell where the answer will be displayed (F15, for example).
