Maggie saw the display of affection before leaving with the doctor. She’d known Greg had feelings for Ericka but she hadn’t realized how much until now.

She liked Ericka, she really did. But this relationship in the group could only lead to problems.

Along the hallway patients sat in chairs against the walls.

Before she could ask, the doctor said, “We’re overcrowded. The prisoners have to have rooms with beds and rails.”

A peek inside a room revealed one gentleman chained to a bed.

The doctor entered a room at the end of the hall. Quinn was there buttoning up his shirt. Before Maggie looked away, she caught a glimpse of his ripped chest. She swallowed.

How could a computer geek who acted scared of his own shadow be that muscular?

When she turned back to face him, a smile teased his lips. “You came.”

Had he caught her admiring his physique?

She sure hoped not.

“They’ve cleared me, physically. Thanks to Greg being so close by I didn’t even inhale that much smoke.”

“That’s good.”

“An investigator already came and talked to me. He wanted to know how we knew where to find Greg and Ericka.”

She frowned. “Anything else?”

“Yeah, he wanted to know how we knew about the exit. And how we were able to text one another when no one else seemed to be able to.”

“Did you explain your skills?”

Quinn had massive computer skills. Despite how she’d acted like he couldn’t do anything right at the stupid Mate Camp, she’d come to realize how much he could do. Sure, she could crack a head or pull out her gun and threaten to, but there were things that Quinn could do in two seconds on a computer that would take her a week to figure out.

“You know, I did, but he didn’t seem that impressed.”

“Are we suspects?” Maggie held her breath.

“Honestly, I don’t know.”
