In sampling 4 in the root of Lolium perenne , metal particles of 5–12 μm were found as shown in Fig. 6. Compared to sampling 1, metals are not accumulated in the epidermis, and in sampling 5, more is seen accumulations in the epidermis. Due to the size of the particles, it is easy to transport them to the leaf, since the xylem and phloem ducts range from 2 to 24 μm.

The elemental microanalysis (EDS-RX) of the uncontaminated (Fig. 7) and contaminated samples (Fig. 8), showed, in the case of Fig. 7, the elements corresponding to a healthy plant, such as Ca, K, Na, C, and O among others, indicate the polluting elements to appreciate that there is no signal in them. Then, in Fig. 8, the signals of the elements, Fe, Ni, and Co, are present, which demonstrates the presence of the samples that were exposed to the contaminants.
