Chapter 9
It had been a few more days and my mom was still being kept in a holding cell in the basement. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen to her. I asked if I could see her and Genevieve said no. She did however, allow me to start training. After overhearing her and Maris the other day I don’t know what her motives can be for allowing me to train but I decide it is better to be trained than not.
For the last few days, Favion had me on a workout and training routine. I would get up and jog around the building for at least thirty minutes. I was never much of a runner. That was just something I never thought to do and it looked boring. I quickly realized why people did it. It felt so freeing to run and not think about anything. The adrenalin rush wasn’t bad either.
After my daily run, I was allowed to get breakfast. After breakfast, I would do some one-on-one training with Favion where he helped me develop my form. Usually by this time, Jess had woken up and was sitting in the training room watching.
Favion and I would train for about two hours. I learned how to properly hold the talace and where the most affective areas of the body were to attack. We also worked on my footwork and how to get up quickly if I was knocked down.
When I was finished with my one-on-one training there was a small period before lunch that Jess and I would wonder around headquarters and just hang out. We were still not permitted to leave the grounds.
Lunch had become my favorite part of the day because it is when I get to see Maris. He was still being punished for helping me rescue Jess and was kept busy. We never really had a chance to talk about our almost kiss and he was back to being his nice but still feeling a little professional self.
I was starting to think I was just overexaggerating that moment and we never really were going to kiss. I was pretty tired and a lot had happened that day. His mom did think though, that he liked me, but that was another thing that worried me. How much loyalty would he show to her? Would he betray me no matter how much he liked me if his mother asked him to?
After lunch, it was group training. Each day was a different group, but since I hadn’t had much training Favion wanted me to get as much in as possible. Genevieve allowed it because she figured it would keep me out of trouble.
In just a few days my body almost completely transformed. I have never been a skinny girl or a heavy girl but always had a nice bit of extra insulation for a cold day, if you know what I mean. Now I look in the mirror and I have defined muscles and my thighs have even slimmed down from all the running.
