“Let’s ask for candies in the neighborhood, and then... to the costume contest!” Vero yelled.

“You stay at home, Paco,” Lino stroked his head.

“Take care of the house,” Pipe told Paco.

And they left.

But Paco did not give up. He walked slowly, a few feet away from the kids, always looking at the route they took.

With luck, someone would leave behind a jelly bean.

Hands full of sweets appeared through the open door of every house. Paco licked his lips.

Finally the time had come: the costume contest at the mall, full of bright lights, witches and pumpkins.
