In the next section of this book, we turn our attention to methods, tools, and resources for nurturing or developing creativity, and at that point, we will turn our attention to the challenges of linking assessment (including both the Creative Strengths Profile and portfolios) with instruction.

Taking the Chapter Forward

◦ Think about Sue, William, and Eric. If you were their classroom teacher, counselor, gifted and talented teacher, or coach, what additional information would you need to complete each student’s Creative Strengths Profile? What assessments might you draw on? What next steps might you recommend in order to help them continue to grow? Consider ways that you might begin to develop Creative Strengths Profiles and portfolios with your students. How might you most effectively communicate to students the goals and benefits of these and engage them in planning, creating, monitoring, and using them? Do you have your own Creative Strengths Profile and personal or professional creativity portfolio? Consider the benefits of such an effort for yourself as well as for your students.
