Chapter Twelve

Brandon woke sluggishly to the alarm on his phone, rolling over with a groan to shut it off. The shifting of the sleeping bag as he moved brought all his attention instantly and painfully to the fact that his cock was hard and aching, and he lay back, his head dropping with a thump. Why did I make him stop, he asked himself, but the answer was obvious: they were in the middle of a tour, surrounded by campers, and also, probably, it was a terrible idea.

Was it, though? God, Rayne had definitely been into it. Brandon could still feel the heat of Rayne’s mouth on his own, and the memory of Rayne writhing underneath him made his cock throb so much that he reached toward the other side of the tent with a half-baked thought of waking Rayne up and climbing on top of him again.

But the space was empty, Rayne’s sleeping bag already rolled up and set against the canvas. Groaning, Brandon gave in to temptation and slid a hand down to rub himself a couple of times before forcing himself to stop. No sex on tour had been one of NORG’s rules for as long as he’d been working there—implemented when Mike and Felicia had started touring together—and that extended to jerking off. Maybe nobody had told Rayne. Probably, nobody had thought they needed to.

There wasn’t time to lie around mulling it over. His dick would calm down eventually, and he had to get breakfast made and camp packed up in time for the long paddle back to Eden. After giving his cock one more frustrated squeeze, he slid out of his sleeping bag and started packing it up.

Outside, Rayne was feeding wood to the fire and hanging the kettle. Sounds of movement came from a couple of the tourists’ tents, and Colby was already up, sitting on a camp chair near the fire and munching a granola bar. “Morning,” Brandon said to both men, though his eyes were drawn to Rayne.

“Morning,” Colby said. “I guess, anyway. I hardly slept—I kept thinking every noise was another bear.”

Rayne kept working on breakfast. “Well,” Brandon said, “I hope that granola bar is going to wake you up enough to paddle back to Eden. It’s a pretty long trip. At least there are no bears in the water, right?”

“Amen,” Colby said, raising his granola bar like it was a glass he was toasting with.

Brandon reached for the bear can that had their oatmeal in it, but Rayne said, “I got it,” and took it straight out of his hands, leaving Brandon puzzled.

“Okay, well, guess I’ll get the tents packed up,” he said, frowning at Rayne, who’d already turned away again. Maybe he was still upset about the bear. Or maybe he was regretting what had happened between them, and this was his way of telling Brandon that he’d decided physical attraction wasn’t worth the baggage that came with it. But now that Brandon had had his hands on Rayne’s bare skin, kissed his lips, pressed up against him, he didn’t think he could forget it.
