Fuck

Alcohol

(I’m too old for the hangover life.)

DAY FOURTEEN

Remember in the Amsterdam chapter where I told you I don’t do hangovers? How it doesn’t matter if I’m scheduled to see the president, if I’m hungover, I’m not going? Well, this is why. I awoke still semi-drunk in my bunk not knowing what time it was. What I did know was that I needed to puke. Thank God I had been smart enough to choose a hostel with en suite bathrooms in it because my day would consist of traveling from my bottom bunk to the bathroom and back to my bunk. I was miserable. The fact that a mere few hours earlier I had thought I would be in any condition to be getting on a train for six and a half hours was absolutely comical. My hangovers are the freaking worst.

After a long day of puking, sleeping, and more puking, I finally woke up from a mini nap feeling like I was on the other side of the death hangover. It was 5:30 p.m. I mean, did you expect me to go on a month-long trip to Europe and not have one hangover day? Come on.

I finally took my makeup off and washed my face. I felt like a new person. I hardly ever sleep with my makeup on. I came out of the bathroom, and Greg popped his head out from his top bunk.

“Alive yet?” he laughed.

“Ughhhh,” I groaned in response.

“What time did you get in?”

“7:30…ish,” I answered.

“Damn!”

“Yeah,” I agreed.

I lay in my bunk going through my phone, which I hadn’t checked all day. There was a direct message on my Instagram from Javier’s friend Manny.
