CHAPTER 4

DON’T DREAM IT’S OVER

“Mom!”

“Leon!”

“Hey, I’m just checking in.”

“Ok... any leads?”

“Not yet, I’m about to stop by Higgit.”

“Ok be careful Leon.”

“I will be mom.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Leon awoke from his reoccurring dream but didn’t open his eyes immediately since he heard people talking in the room. He was still in massive amounts of pain but managed not to make a single sound.

“How long could it be until he wakes up?”

“Could be a couple days, maybe a couple of weeks...”

“Damn that’s rough...”

“Yeah, you guys said this was Legendary D. Wiener’s son?”

“Yeah, it’s him alright, Leon Wiener.”

“How did you guys find him?”

“We sent search teams around the West Coast until we picked up the same style of Rhythm as his father’s.”

“That’s pretty smart he’s got that special Rhythm, but why is he this banged up?”

“That’s what I want to know, the Wilk said some clown guy attacked them, but I’ve never heard of a clown Prevailer...”

“Master Devin and Master Shanta are gone because of him though, he’s gotta be stopped!”

“I know! I know... I just wish we had a name...”

Leon opened his eyes and stared at the two men talking. One was bald and had on a cyan colored doctor’s coat, with black scrubs underneath. The other man was taller and had muscles and battle scars for days, Leon had never seen someone pull off leather and chain armor so well before.

“Mr. Bungo...” Leon said. The two men jumped.

“Leon! You’re awake! How long have you been awake?” The tall man said.

“Long enough...” Leon tried to move but realized he was in a full body cast that had multiple monitors hooked up to it, “is this really necessary?”

“Yes. You shattered a couple bones, and these monitors are helping your Divine Rhythm aid the healing process for multiple organs. Without your level of Rhythm you might’ve already died, and if we had been another hour late you would’ve also been dead!” The doctor laughed. Leon didn’t think it was funny.

“What the doc is trying to say is, you’re lucky kid, and we’re sorry, we didn’t know such a high level Prevailer would be on that mission.” The tall guy said.

“Why did you guys send me on that mission?” Leon asked.

“To see if you were ready to join us and help save your father. My name is Captain Sho, and I want you on our side Leon.” He said while stretching his hand out to shake Leon’s. He realized Leon’s hand was barely available and shook it lightly as to not disturb the cast.

“That’s it? I’m a Music Master now?”

“Well, there are more tests and procedures we must follow, but yeah these are trying times. We are losing the fight against the Prevailers. They keep sending these monsters at us and we can’t keep losing our new soldiers before they can unlock more of their power. Like you did!” Captain Sho said, “Whatever you did to summon that power... our recruits desperately need that Leon.”

“It’s The Beat... or Beato. I already changed my name.
