"I still can't feel you" I murmured. His eyes never left mine as he reached down to my neck. Wrapping his hand around the angel, a sound came from his hand as he hissed. Pulling his hand open, an already fading burn mark had etched into his skin… A mark of the angel wings. Reaching up to the necklace again, he pulled it hard, snapping the chain from around my neck. As soon as the clasp broke, our connection roared back to life. He kissed me hard as he scooped me up into his arms, transporting us to the bedroom.

"I shouldn't have tested you like that, you weren't ready. As soon as I saw your face, I knew what you were thinking. That you thought I’d meant to kill you. By the time I reached you, you’d faded away" he said. Looking up at him,

"That necklace was spelled, specifically to stop me from finding you" he remarked, a slight bitterness in his tone.

"I'm so sorry I didn't know; it was my grandmothers" I started to say before I stopped.

"On a positive note, at least I've discovered another ability I can control" I said, watching his expression turn from serious to relaxed. His expression changed back to concern as he traced the bruises and cuts I'd gotten on my arms from climbing down the roof and running in the forest.

"You are a wonder, little bird. Would you care to take a swim in the healing baths with me?"
