Chapter Sixteen
Rharelon
Cyrus had always been a cocky Gaian with enough attitude to fill the room he was in. Since summer solstice, heâd been withdrawn. Now he looked gaunt. I sensed the turbulent emotions inside him.
Several centuries ago, I had realised that I couldnât feed as a normal incubus did on sexual energyâit made me sick. Lust was not the deadly sin that enticed me. Wrath appealed more to me: I envied the powers of others, and I used greed to feed on those powers. Pride in my abilities was the latest sin I revelled in.
The stronger the powers, the more they satiated the constant craving that lurked inside me. I only gave Kaine powers that I didnât need or want. The most delicious and strongest I kept for myself. Over time, I had learnt how to incorporate them into myself to use and not just to feed on.
No one was aware of the creature Iâd become, not even Kaine, who believed he kept me on a leash.
His arrogance against any beast that was not kraken had isolated them under his rule. All they needed was a beast who pretended to care about them. My army awaited my command while living under Kaineâs roof and using his resources.
My mother had hidden me from the world, ashamed that I couldnât feed at her infamous orgies. They repulsed me, bodies thrashing around seeking out a momentâs pleasure. The gifts in their DNA fascinated me, and the powers that they took for granted enticed me, until one day I fed in the way that I wanted. The witch thought I wanted to feed on her as an incubus and bring her to the peak of physical pleasure. Instead, she lost her life.
The flood of energy into my body was phenomenal. I still remembered it like it was this morning instead of centuries ago.
Kaine wanted the mortal realm to rule over, to enslave the humans and turn them into cattle.
I wanted everythingâthe mortal realm, the underrealm, the fae courts, and the heavens that the gods had abandoned long ago. From Olympus, I could access any realm the gods created new worlds in. My plan wasnât limited to this world and the petty power games associated with it. I was a god among fae, and I fully intended to be a god among the worlds.
Cyrus stormed into the living area of the house we occupied. I had sampled his power a long time ago. It had helped me influence him into helping me, it also allowed me to portal into the underrealm. Their spells and barriers searched for a Gaian energy imprint that I possessed thanks to a little snack on Cyrusâ energy.
âWhatâs wrong?â I asked. I didnât care but had learnt that people felt better if you pretended to care.
âKaine wants me to bring Darius and that abomination of a black dragon to him. How the fuck am I supposed to capture a black death dragon?â he said as he stormed around the room like a caged tiger, or dragon as the case may be.
