6 To help create the faux marble look, add veins here and there along the column. Use floating medium and Wicker White on a 1-inch (25mm) flat. Hold the brush lightly and stay up on the chisel edge.

7 Using the same brush with Raw Umber and floating medium, add a little bit of shading on one side of the veins.

LANDSCAPE

8 Begin the landscape seen through the stone archway by using a level to draw a straight line for the horizon that divides the sky and land. Apply painter’s tape to the land side of the landscape. Load the sponge painter with French Blue, outline the sky area, then fill in the sky with circular motions of the sponge.
