Now is a good time to reflect on the position on the board. Black has an isolated pawn and although it can’t be pushed without losing the bishop on b7 it might be able to push soon. Whites best placed piece is the knight on e5 and black’s worst piece is the knight on h6 which seems to be doing nothing for the moment. Because of this, black opts for a very logical plan of playing f6 to give white’s knight the boot and then rerouting his h6 knight via f7
