Chapter Six

SAGE

When we arrived back home, it was dark. We were all exhausted as we meandered up the stairs. I was tucked in the back of the group, leaning into Maddox’s side with his arm wrapped around my shoulders.

Cursing started to spill out of the others’ lips once they made it to the front door. I sighed internally as I felt the anger and fear rushing through them. Maddox’s arm tightened around my shoulders as he looked around us like he was prepared for someone to jump out and attack us at any moment. I realized he could see past the guys at his height, and I suddenly hated being so damn short compared to them.

Pulling away from Maddox, I pushed through the others to get to the front door. Dante tried to stop me, but I slipped out of his grasp before he could get his hand all the way around my bicep. Rowan stood in front of the door, blocking whatever they had all seen.

When I stood beside him, I could understand the sudden need to curse because that’s just what I did.

“Shit,” I muttered as I stepped closer to read the note on the envelope pinned to the front door with one of my throwing knives.

It was a threat and I wouldn’t be taking it lightly.

Give yourself up or we’ll be forced to take drastic measures.
