Pawn Play

So far we’ve concentrated mainly on pieces and how they should develop, whereas the role of the pawns in the opening has been somewhat neglected. In this chapter I’m hoping to redress the balance by studying a few basic pawn structures arising from the opening before moving on to some typical pawn breaks that are worth remembering.
