CAESAR’S BLOODLINE

Julius Caesar was, naturally, quite concerned about his bloodline. Over time, he hired scholars and genealogists who claimed he was descended from one of the first settlers of Rome.

Being a patrician did not necessarily mean a person was rich, but over time the two things began to seem like the same. Being of plebeian birth, on the other hand, often meant that one was poor, and this, too, became even more likely with the passage of time.
