• Shop the bath department for long, shallow trays to store oils and spices on the countertop, too. (Note: Leaving oils in their original containers is fine, especially if you buy ones with cute labels! I encourage splurging a little in the name of style! And taste!)

• Do transfer dishwashing liquid, hand soap, and lotion into pretty, clear vessels or dispensers.

• If you’re a cat owner faced with the small apartment/litter box conundrum, remove a door from a base cabinet in the least visible part of the kitchen and stash your kitty’s box there. (Note: Turn this concept into a cushioned pet palace in larger, more deluxe kitchens.) If your feline needs her privacy, hang a “curtain” made from an oversize dishtowel or cute piece of fabric across the cabinet’s top with Velcro, a spring rod, or ties and hooks.
