A work place plus nib preparation

Most of the nibs companies in the world leave the nib with a chemical residue for the purposes of preventing them from rust. If the chemical layer of the nib residue is still in place then you may have a few glitches which are all easy to solve. One you can tip the nib in alcohol and also you can use soap to scrub the residue out. For the case of soap after scrubbing make sure you wash thoroughly.

For the working area of your calligraphy sessions make sure, the place has enough space, which gives room for your arms to be free. Also make sure the ink is in a convenient place where you can just dip and continue with your work without any problems. The reason for enough space and convenient room is because calligraphy tends to involve every part associated with your arm apart from your elbow.
