SLOWLY UNDRESSING HIS lover, Stiles took the time to kiss and pet Michael in all the ways he had come to know that pleased him. It was no hardship to press hard kisses to his flat stomach or lick his way from Michaelâs collar bone to behind his ear. He knew that spot that both excited and tickled Michael. Feeling Michael relax into his ministrations, Stiles loved him as he deserved. Slow and sweet and with all the feeling he could muster.
Michael fell asleep in his arms. Relaxed and sated himself, Stiles didnât take long to drift into a deep sound sleep, only to be awakened a short time later.
The pounding on the stateroom door couldnât be called knocking. It was furious and frantic, as if the person causing the noise was actually running from death itself.
âMr. Long!â Winston Aldridge called out again. It was at least the fourth or fifth time he had yelled Stiles name.
Stiles slipped quietly from Michaelâs room through the adjoining door. Grabbing his dressing gown from his room, he put it on over his naked form. All the while the anxious man continued to bang on his and Lizzieâs stateroom door.
âPlease, stop yelling,â Stiles said as he opened the door. âDo you have any idea of the time?â
âYes, sir. But, the Captain,â he stuttered his words as he spoke. âHe wants you to come with me. Please hurry.â
âWhatever is going on out here?â
Lizzie and Michael joined Stiles at the same moment, both in their robes.
Suddenly without warning, Winston paled and collapsed on the floor. Stiles cursed. Michael knelt to help the poor man. Lizzie ran to her room and retrieved a small bottle.
âSmelling salts,â she said passing the bottle to Stiles.
Stiles waved the opened bottle in front of Winston and thatâs all it took for him to start to come around. Michael helped him to stand and take a seat on a nearby chair.
âAre you alright?â Michael asked.
âIâm sorry. I just remembered seeing all that blood...â
âBlood?â Stiles blurted out. âWhat on earth are you talking about?â
âPlease, sir, one of the passengers is dead. The Captain sent me to fetch you and Dr. Poole. Heâs already with the Captain.â Going pale again, Winston answered, âItâs Mr. Stark, sir. Mr. James Stark is dead.â
The men all turned at the sound of a soft thud. Lizzie had fainted and dropped to the floor.
âOh good God. Hand me the smelling salts, Stiles,â Michael said.
