SLOWLY UNDRESSING HIS lover, Stiles took the time to kiss and pet Michael in all the ways he had come to know that pleased him. It was no hardship to press hard kisses to his flat stomach or lick his way from Michael’s collar bone to behind his ear. He knew that spot that both excited and tickled Michael. Feeling Michael relax into his ministrations, Stiles loved him as he deserved. Slow and sweet and with all the feeling he could muster.

Michael fell asleep in his arms. Relaxed and sated himself, Stiles didn’t take long to drift into a deep sound sleep, only to be awakened a short time later.

The pounding on the stateroom door couldn’t be called knocking. It was furious and frantic, as if the person causing the noise was actually running from death itself.

“Mr. Long!” Winston Aldridge called out again. It was at least the fourth or fifth time he had yelled Stiles name.

Stiles slipped quietly from Michael’s room through the adjoining door. Grabbing his dressing gown from his room, he put it on over his naked form. All the while the anxious man continued to bang on his and Lizzie’s stateroom door.

“Please, stop yelling,” Stiles said as he opened the door. “Do you have any idea of the time?”

“Yes, sir. But, the Captain,” he stuttered his words as he spoke. “He wants you to come with me. Please hurry.”

“Whatever is going on out here?”

Lizzie and Michael joined Stiles at the same moment, both in their robes.

Suddenly without warning, Winston paled and collapsed on the floor. Stiles cursed. Michael knelt to help the poor man. Lizzie ran to her room and retrieved a small bottle.

“Smelling salts,” she said passing the bottle to Stiles.

Stiles waved the opened bottle in front of Winston and that’s all it took for him to start to come around. Michael helped him to stand and take a seat on a nearby chair.

“Are you alright?” Michael asked.

“I’m sorry. I just remembered seeing all that blood...”

“Blood?” Stiles blurted out. “What on earth are you talking about?”

“Please, sir, one of the passengers is dead. The Captain sent me to fetch you and Dr. Poole. He’s already with the Captain.” Going pale again, Winston answered, “It’s Mr. Stark, sir. Mr. James Stark is dead.”

The men all turned at the sound of a soft thud. Lizzie had fainted and dropped to the floor.

“Oh good God. Hand me the smelling salts, Stiles,” Michael said.
