A voice in my dream speaks: “Every unknown tear extracted violently from lacrimal glands rests peacefully at the bottom of the Dead Sea. This is a place notoriously populated by nameless characters whose existence depends on a sacred pact of silence. This is the last space on Earth where listening keeps the tears in calcified jars under the seal of tranquility. Unbothered. Laced in an intangible cord of solidarity.” The dream felt like I had been dropped inside a map.1 I followed a path inked with the thorniest cries my ears had ever recorded. As the tears travelled to the Middle East, the frigidity of the road stretched in sequences similar to those I had seen before embracing a palm tree in a desert. The sobbing I heard unlocked a latent beat in my belly button, connecting me to an indescribable joy. It was as if, for the first time, I was receiving oxygen without the restraints of emotional censorship.2 I had arrived to knock on a door where returns were possible.
