* * * *

David and Alan sat with Oliver York, the last kid on David’s list of students who needed the ‘we’re here for you’ talk. It had gone well so far, and those teens who had an iffy home life now knew they could come and talk to any teacher if they were overwhelmed. None of them had expressed the need to shoot up their fellow classmates, which had upset David a bit. He’d wanted to speak to someone of like mind, a person who had the same thoughts as he did.

“So what are you dealing with?” Alan asked Oliver.

“Mum’s a bit of a druggy, innit.” Oliver shrugged like he didn’t care.

David would bet a pair of Nike Air that he did.

“That must be hard for you.” Alan smiled sadly.

“Nah, I nick her drugs and sell them on.” Oliver smirked.

“That’s not a good path to go down,” Alan said.

David always let his colleague deal with the questions for the most part. Safer that way. If he didn’t blurt something out relating to how he felt, Alan couldn’t suspect him later down the line when Dave started killing.

“It’s what’s on offer, though,” Oliver said. “She’s so off her face, she don’t make dinner or buy me shit, stuff I need.”

David studied Oliver. The lad had the latest clothing on, all brand names. Must have been bought with drug money.

“Does your mother know you steal her drugs?” Alan tapped something into his tablet.

“She just thinks she smoked more than she thought.” Oliver laughed.

“Do you sell it to the children at school?” Alan frowned.

“Nope. They’re all too goody-goody. I sell to blokes down the pub, innit.”

“I’m going to have to ask you to stop doing that, Oliver.” Alan paused. “Otherwise, we’ll have to inform the police.”

“I’ll stop.” Oliver didn’t say it with any conviction.

“Good lad,” Alan said. “Now, do you feel you need any support regarding your life? Someone to talk to?”

“We already have the social round, and they don’t do nuffin.”

Alan raised his eyebrows. “Nothing at all?”

“Nope. I’m fifteen. Another year, they won’t have to care.”

David couldn’t resist stepping in here. “Does that make you angry?”

“It’s all I’ve known.”

“Do you have feelings of rage towards the system or your friends and schoolmates?”

“Nope. Not their fault they have good parents, is it?”

Bloody hell. This wasn’t going how David wanted.

While Alan guffed on at Oliver, David thought about other options. He could talk to people online. People who wanted to chat about their urges to kill. No. That would leave a trail on his computer.

But what if he used one at school…
