During the course of the following year these notices appeared respectively in the Notting Hill Journal and the London Evening Tidings.

The first was set up under the bald column-heading which newspapers reserve for the reporting of man’s three greatest adventures in life—Births, Marriages, Deaths. It read:

Barron—Barnes—At St. Mary’s Church, Notting Hill, on May 16th, by the Rev. Peter Franks—Evandine Amelia, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Preece of Redhill, Surrey, to James William, second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Barron, of Beckenham, Kent.

The second read:

The marriage took place to-day at St. George’s, Hanover Square, of Mr. Rudolph Millar, the playwright, and Miss Angela Walsh, the well-known young actress now appearing in Mr. Millar’s play “Pigs in Porcelain” at the New Theatre. “Pigs in Porcelain” was an instantaneous success when it was first produced at the Beaumont Theatre some months ago. It was hailed by the critics as heralding the arrival of yet another brilliant young dramatist. Miss Walsh’s performance in the play has been described as “one of the most tender and sympathetic interpretations seen in years.” Among those present at to-day’s ceremony were Mr. Sam Richardson, the millionaire philanthropist, Miss Clara Maddison, Mr. Willy Farnham…
