Death was a part of life. Every man who carried a sword into battle accepted that his life could end at any moment. He felt her love reaching out to him, and his reaching out to her like an invisible hand that needed to touch and be touched. Always it was so that whatever task they were at, no matter the distance that separated them, all that was needed was a tender thought that reached across the time and distance between.
