Chapter 20

Silvie insisted on finishing their shower before continuing the conversation. Boyd would have complained, but she found a way to distract him. After washing each other, she’d pressed him against the wall, pinning his arms by his sides against it with her ankles. Then she did something that only a woman with a complete disregard for gravity could do—she rode him reverse cowgirl style while he stood against the wall, leaning back with the palms of her hands on his chest. The dent in the wall was a few inches deeper by the time she was done with him.

They cleaned up again and were standing in the bathroom drying each other with fluffy towels when she broached the subject once more. “Now that's out of my system, back to the topic of how we are going to do this,” Silvie frowned. “To be honest, I can’t tell you.”

Boyd frowned at her dramatically.

“Aww, puppy eyes,” she cooed sadly. “It’s not because I don’t want to tell you. I just can’t tell you how to fall in love with someone.”

That made a certain amount of sense, but wasn’t a very satisfying answer. His frustration with her answer must have shown on his face, because she giggled at him.

“Darling, I didn’t say I wouldn’t help. What did you think I was looking for in the interviews?”

“I suppose, if I were you, I would be looking for someone I could tolerate being around and working with. I’d want someone with a solid Power set that complimented our own, but who would also be a good team member,” Boyd responded.

His mouth twisted into a grimace. “I just hope you picked out someone you wouldn’t mind seeing me be close with. Someone whose ass you wouldn’t want to kick if you saw them touching me or something.”

“Such a man,” Silvie shook her head. “I’m not going to want to kick anyone's ass because I was looking for the two most important things.”

“And those would be…?” Boyd arched an eyebrow, rolling his hand in a 'please continue' gesture.

“It’s simple. The most important thing was finding a woman you can’t resist. You’re going to fall for Kitsune, I give it a week… maybe less. She won’t give you a choice,” Silvie gave him a grin of triumph. “I thought it might take a few weeks initially, maybe even a couple of months, but after seeing your reaction to her flirting? You don’t stand a chance.”

She laughed. “I mean, come on, with those big green eyes, that gorgeous red hair, not to mention the fact that she is a literal fox, with the tail and ears and everything. Those looong legs… And that ass!” Silvie made a noise that said ‘yummy’ to Boyd’s ears. “Plus, she’s a shameless flirt who just oozes sexuality.”

“So…” Boyd grunted, “That was the plan if I continued to be uncooperative, just let her wear me down?”

“Pretty much,” Silvie admitted. “Plus, I was going to start holding out on you—eventually. Between her throwing herself
