I led Angela to my secluded den. My little cave was big enough for just me. Though, now that I had Angela with me, I might need to build another cabin out here. With hope, that was. Because I never thought about having a family until I met her, and even then, it was only a dream that I thought would never come true. She had always been a human until recently.

Now that all had changed…

But I didn’t want to get too far ahead of myself. I first needed to make sure that she wanted to stay with me. Something told me she would, but I couldn’t allow myself to buy into that. Not until she chose me.

When she walked in, she took a moment to look around, I had everything set up with the very basic of things. A small bed made of furs from different kills took up the far corner of the small cave. A spot for a fire pit to keep warm during the harsher, colder months sat in the center of the open area. A trunk full of clothes stood against the wall opposite of the bed.

I watched as she took a moment to take in everything. When I couldn’t stand the silence any longer, I asked, “What do you think?”

“This is very…”

She took several seconds to think of the right word. My heart panicked a little, though I couldn’t understand why. I figured it was nervousness about her seeing where I lived most of the time. The stark contrast of her old life standing against the only life I had ever known. Though she had said she was comfortable with being a shifter now didn’t mean that there wasn’t going to be some things that needed a little more getting used to.

“Cozy,” she finished and settled her brown eyes on me with a smile.

“We don’t need much here,” I said.

“I can see that,” she replied.

I approached her and slid my hands along her rounded waist, feeling the heat of her skin bleeding into my fingers. My arousal grew into an erection that pressed against her. My hunger for her had become almost insatiable now that she was no longer off-limits. I found that I would be just as happy if I could spend the rest of my life tangled with her. But there were some things I needed to make sure of first.

“Will this be enough for you?” I asked.

“I don’t know yet,” she said as she rested her hands on my upper arms.

“If you want anything, tell me and I’ll make sure you get it,” I promised.

She smiled. “You don’t need to change anything for me.”

I nodded and searched her eyes. “I waited so long to have you with me, and now that you are, it’s almost like a dream.”

She giggled. “Well, I’ve dreamed about you at night more often than I care to admit.”

“You are too good to be true, you know that?” I murmured, deep and growly. My erection throbbed with need.
