Chapter 26

Caldwellâs bitch ass was still a grade-A asshole. I went to my guidance counselor yesterday to see if they could switch this class to another economics teacher, but all the other classes were full. So that means Iâm stuck with his ass for the rest of the school year.
Iâm trying to keep the things Raidon told me in mind on Monday, press through and just finish the class. Iâm going to do my best to stay clear of him. I will do his work and thatâll be that.
As usual, Mr. Caldwell was talking about some shit I really didnât care about. I had already read over this stuff last night before bed so listening to him explain it was a bore. I was trying to pay attention but my mind kept drifting away.
I finally saw Ashanti back at school this morning. I havenât spoken to her since I left her house Monday afternoon, but I definitely wanted to holla at her today. Weâve gotta come to some sort of resolution.
Not only did I see Ashanti today, but I also saw KaâDericka again. I hadnât seen or heard from her in almost a week. What if sheâs pregnant too? I mean shit why the fuck has she been missing from school for a week? I got the magic stick, right. Just getting all the chicks preggo. I shook my head and sighed.
I felt someone tapping me on my side. That shit snapped me out of my trance. I looked over and Jaquez was trying to alert me that Caldwellâs bitch ass was talking to me.
I sat up at my desk and stared at Mr. Caldwell. He said, âMr. Shaw, I called on you to answer the question, but clearly daydreaming is more important than what Iâm discussing.â
I could feel the fire in the pits of my stomach starting to boil. This nigga was coming for me again. He was trying to embarrass me in front of the class.
And then I could see Raidonâs face, so I redirected. I cleared my throat and said, âIâm sorry what was the question?â
âExplain the Demand-Pull Theory,â Mr. Caldwell said. âBut thatâll be impossible because I just watched you daydream as I taught it.â
I stared him in the eyes, put on my best white boy voice and said, âThe Demand-Pull Theory suggests that inflation occurs when demand for goods and services exceeds existing supplies. An example of this could be wartime. By this I mean the needs of the government put pressure on producers. Heavy demand for new equipment, supplies, and services makes those items more valuable, which forces their prices to go up. Wages also rise as the demand for labor increases along with the demand for goods.â I smiled as I continued to stare him in the face.
Some of the students in the class started to laugh. I was staging his ass. Mr. Caldwell just stared at me. Evil was in his eyes.
I said, âI can go on if you want me to.
