Chapter Nineteen
Orion comes over to my house after work, still dressed in his business suit, looking sexy as fuck. Even sexier holding pizza in one hand and beer in the other.
âHey,â I say, smiling and opening the door for him to enter.
âHey. You got security cameras installed?â he asks, glancing upward.
âYeah, I did. That smells good.â
And so does he, that familiar masculine scent hitting me.
I always love seeing him in his suit, all professional, but knowing that underneath that suit is tattoos and a beautifully ripped body. The suit covers all of his tattoos, so none are visible while heâs in work mode.
Under his suit is all play, though.
He comes inside, puts the food and alcohol down, and then lifts me up in his arms, sitting me on the kitchen counter and wrapping me in his embrace. âI missed you.â
âI missed you, too,â I reply.
âI feel like thereâs a gap between us after what happened on Friday night, and I donât like it. I donât want anything to happen to us, and I sure as fuck donât want to lose you. So can you please tell me whatâs going on in your mind right now?â he asks, tone gentle, eyes imploring.
My eyes widen at his honest question. I felt the gap, of course, but I didnât think heâd bring it up in this way and with such open communication.
âUmmm.â I think about how to word what I want to say to him properly. âOkay, well, today at work Crow came to speak to me about what happened at the club. He said that heâs going to put in security at work as of tomorrow so Bjorn canât just wander in anymore, and heâs now banned from all of their nightclubs so he canât start any shit, and also so I can go places without being worried or feeling threatened. So the MC is taking it seriously, but I guess I feel like maybe you arenât because heâs your cousin.â
His eyes flare, and I can tell I said something he wasnât expecting. âI didnât realize everyone thought he was that big of a threat. I mean, he was a total piece of shit and completely out of line, but I donât think he would harm you. He wouldnât dare. I can handle this situation, Cam. I wouldnât ever let him harm a hair on your head.â
He has no idea, and he clearly didnât see Bjornâs slit throat gesture at the bar.
His cousin is his blind spot, and he just canât see it. Itâs so frustrating, because itâs all right in front of him. His judgment is all off right now, and I just want to shake him so he can see the situation as what it is, not what he wishes it would be.
âBjorn literally made a slit throat gesture to me at the bar, I thought you saw it. That is a threat in itself. My friends donât want to take that chance with me. I appreciate that from them, because to be honest, after everything that has happened Iâm feeling a little on edge.
