CHAPTER TWELVE

Richard.

I push the door to my father's office open and walk straight to the mini bar. On getting there, I pick a bottle of scotch and take a long swig from it.

Exhaling loudly, I shut my eyes and bask in the feeling the drink leaves in its wake. It's Naomi. I don't know what she is doing to me. I've never acted this way because of a woman before. She is messing with my head.

"Shit!" I curse, taking another sip of the drink. My hair falls to my face, matting my face. I ignore it and take another swig of the bottle.

My head is reeling. I don't know what is happening to me. Heck! I don't recall the last time I took alcohol. I also do not remember the last time I felt as drawn to a woman as I was to Naomi.

It's been roughly two weeks since I saw her again but all the emotions from years ago are returning and this time, they are merciless.

Why else would I feel like scooping her in my arms, taking her to bed and roughly fucking her till her fingers dig into my back?

"Fuck!" I curse loudly.

I need help because I'm clearly losing my mind. I can't deal with all these thoughts. I can't even work. I should be worried about Alice but it's Naomi.

The way she looked at my father... She stared at him like she knew something. What did her father tell her about us? What?

The question lingers in my mind and it's pushing itself forward. I need answers. Naomi has never acted like she knows what happened twenty years ago. She always has a blank expression.

Why did she choose to work for this company? Does she have a plan to complete what her father could not a long time ago?

I hate that these questions are coming now. For fuck's sake, I handed over the document of part ownership to her on Friday and I'm certain that she must have signed it by now.

Why didn't I think about all these before now? Groaning in annoyance, I take one last swig from the bottle, drop it on the bar and exit the room.

Roughly, pushing my office door open, my eyes find Naomi who is focused on a file on her table. Hurriedly, I cross the short distance between the door and her desk and snatch the file from her hand.

Perusing through it, I heave a sigh of relief when I see that she hasn't signed the document yet. I look down at her and as expected, she is looking at me with a confused expression on her face.

"What the hell was that for?" She questions.

"Have you read this?" I ask, raising the file for her to see. Her eyebrows knit some more in confusion.

"I was before it was rudely snatched from me," She grits. She forces herself up, perhaps in an attempt to look intimidating. I scoff and roll my eyes.

"Good. There is no need for you to read it," I say and turn around to leave.
