Darkness

I

heard buzzing. Where am I? I felt something hard biting into my cheek. Am I lying on the floor? I tried to talk. Something was in my mouth. I tried to spit it out, but it would not budge. Darkness. Why is there no light? My shoulders hurt. Why are my arms bent so far behind my back? I tried to free my arms. I was struggling. I tried to pull my hands away. Drip, drip, drip. There was water dripping somewhere. Why is it echoing? Am I in a basement? But I do not have a basement.

How did I get here? Something was biting right into my wrists. It hurts. I felt something wet and sticky sliding down my hands. Am I bleeding? Why can’t I see anything?! Something was covering my eyes. Click, click, click. I began to struggle even more. How did I get here? I could not recall anything. Click, click, click. What is this noise? I had no idea what it was, but every single instinct in my body was telling me to get as far away from it as possible. I tried to free my hands. More blood.

I cried out as the thing on my arm cut deeper and deeper. Silence. What? Nathan. What is happening? Am I trying to remember? Someone had hit me. Oh God, my head! It was throbbing! Someone had attacked me from behind. How did they enter my apartment? I had the locks changed. A name. Someone. My mind was trying really hard to remember a name. Scaping was heard in the distance. Construction? I do not live near a construction zone. Wait, do I? Where do I live? Where the hell am I? Hannah.

Who is Hannah? Stalker. Why am I only getting broken sentences?! It was like a blockade was covering my mind, refusing to let anything through. Just shards and broken pieces were slipping through. I had regained enough of my senses to know that the best decision was for me to stop struggling.

It was only hurting me, there was no way I was going to escape that easily, and the blood loss was also making me dizzy. Lack of sight had also heightened my other senses. I could smell something burning. Plastic? That would align with the construction narrative. The scraping of metal against metal could also be heard. Click, click, click. Hannah. The name. It was Hannah! Everything came back to me with such force that my head spun once again. Taylor. My father’s past. Hannah’s identity. Sophia. Annette.

Coming back to my apartment. Being attacked. It was all coming back to me now. My head hurt like someone was hammering it from the inside. Drip, drip, drip. Now I understood why my body was telling me to run as far as possible from the clicking. She could potentially be Andrew's killer. My own life could be in danger right now. I had to get out here. I did not even know where I was; how was I supposed to escape? Click, click, click.
