Turkey Supper Cranberry Salad Cindy Akre

This recipe has been served for many years at our church’s annual turkey supper. It is exceedingly popular, and we are often asked for the recipe, which we happily provide. Many of us make it in our homes for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

12-oz. pkg. fresh cranberries

2 c. sugar

3 c. water

6-oz. pkg. cherry gelatin mix

2 c. celery, chopped

2 c. apples, peeled, cored and diced

1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, combine cranberries, sugar and water. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 5 minutes, or until berries are soft. Add dry gelatin mix and stir well. Remove from heat; allow to cool completely. Stir in celery, apples and nuts; transfer to a serving bowl. Cover and chill until set. Makes 16 servings.
