Consider an observer in a world where there is a minimal size ℓ determined by the Planck scale and a cosmological constant that determines a large distance scale L. In a maximally symmetric geometry, the observer in this world cannot see farther than the scale L = 1/(2Λ). In the euclidean context, this is because the universe is a sphere; in the lorentzian context, because of the cosmological horizon. Now consider the angle ϕ under which such an observer sees an object. To make this angle smaller, we should either move the object farther away, or make it smaller. But there is a limitation in the smallness of the size of the object, given by ℓ, as well as a limitation in the distance, given by L.
