Chapter 38: The Hunter

The hunter has done his homework. Since his shooting encounter with Mickke D at The Village at The Glens, he has been following him whenever he has time. He has always kept a safe distance so as not to be seen. He knows pretty much what he does and when he does it. Now it’s time to get his attention again. He plans to play with him just as a cat plays with a mouse before he lunges for the kill. He wants to aggravate him. One thing that has stuck out to him is that he has been taking his lady friend boating on Saturdays. Same time each morning and they usually stay out on the water for about the same time each trip. They have not been out for several weeks, so he thinks they are about due. He is watching.

The hunter has been checking the want ads for boats for sale and he has found one just south of the swing bridge, close to where Mickke D has his boat. It is a 30-foot Contender with three 250 Yamaha motors which has been for sale for quite awhile. He told the owner he would come by and take it out for a ride soon, maybe on very short notice. When the time is right, he will send Mickke D a message on the waterway. Nothing fatal yet, just another warning shot across the bow.
