There were several critical pieces of the path to success that were missing, but they had to start somewhere, and this gave them a big head start. Being able to build a device that could create magnetic monopoles would enable them to open an X-point anywhere they choose, simply by forcing a collision between the magnetic fields from two opposing machines. This generated a magnetic monopole of the same oscillation and frequency of magnetic field. Cancelling out the Earth’s and other interfering magnetic fields required shrouding the magnetic monopoles in a quark absorbing type of metal, one Brill had created with the help of the Well. They created an identical device to be the receiving point of the X-point. Using the frequency of the monopoles, they being unique enough, would enable the devices to be connected across any length of space, as the X-points travelled on the quantum scale and distance was irrelevant there.

Brill envisioned these devices being placed all across the Earth to eliminate the need for cars, planes, or any other form of transportation. He wanted to entice businesses to use these devices to transport their goods from their warehouses to the distribution centers, saving them on transportation costs and time. As he looked across the global distribution system, saving that amount of transportation emissions would cut global pollution by a third. Brill was wealthy enough that he was pursuing this from the standpoint of helping out the future generations and not wanting to do this from any monetary standpoint, plus he was eager to see something from the Knowledge Well put into practice. As he got older, though one could hardly say a person in their thirties was old, Brill was feeling the need more and more to help others, as he did not have kids or any other relatives. He needed an outlet to make him feel whole.
